DARE TO DREAM?

It has been more than a year since the last time I stepped in to Dave's Delli. It is the best restaurant with English gravy and a quarter chicken!I love it but I seldom visit the bistro because the price has gone up.But today is a special day that I am celebrating a good news with my wife.Another reason why I was here is the poster.According to my cycling friend Marina, this guy on the big bike looks like me.I hope so. As I was eating ,I kept looking at the poster and read the caption-Dreams are possible. When I was in my 20s,I dreamt to be an engineer and I became one in 1976.I dreamt to own and drive a Mercedes and it came true in 1989.So,some dreams are possible and some are not realised yet. While having dinner here,I took a few shots of the posters but I was not pleased.Suddenly, one of the young men eating near the wall where the poster was hung looked to the poster.Immediately I fired my shot. That action is a great  human connection to  the poster. Looking back and the way forward

I planned to celebrate my two years anniversary of owning Fujifilm X-T1 by going to do a photowalk in KL or to shoot in some exotic place in Malaysia, but I forgot all about it.It must be either to my age or I was deeply engrossed in taking photos and managing my Putrajaya Photowalk Group at my facebook. Most likely it was due to both reasons mentioned. For the record,I got my XT1 on 12th of March,2014. Fujifilm camera was never my dream camera. To me,Fujifilm is a company that produces films. My first real camera was Nikon F2E using film in 1988.Then,my first DSLR Canon 400D and now it Fujifilm X-T1.Looking back in the last 25 years,I learnt and took photos 20% in first 20 years and 80% in the last 5 years. And that reminds me of the famous Pareto's Principle. Learning takes a real effort and real time. Many had failed like me in my first 20 years. Most of us are in the comfort zone,as long as we can take family snapshots and everyone is happy. How did I become serious...

DARK ALLEYS

How did I get through this dark alley? Not by choice ,of course.I lost my way at a big R&R Station along one highway in Malaysia.Thank God ,I saw a familiar lighted M sign.I was hungry then.It was a pleasant suprise. At least I found a restaurant that I can eat something before I arrive home. Getting lost is one way that made us travelled along new routes so that we can discover new things that we may be looking all this while. As they say,God works in mysterious ways. One of my relatives got sick and met a nurse at the hospital. They fell in love and got married. So,never be afraid of dark allleys but be extra careful. There may be more bad people lurking there than the angels.

Dramatic Clouds at Pantai Irama

Dramic clouds formations are very rare happenings. They come as they please. To capture such an occassion like the above and below, one just have to be lucky-be present at the right time and place. How do you get lucky? One has to be present more often at a particular good location.Every time I go back to my hometown in Bachok,I will be at Pantai Irama every morning. And I must not forget my camera! To me,it is a gift of opportunity from Allah to me.Looking at the above three shots, what is my chance of shooting the above scene again even though I go to Pantai Irama every weekend? To me,almost impossible unless it is another gift from Allah again. Below are a few great formations of clouds witnessed at Pantai Irama,Bachok,Kelantan.

A MATTER OF INTEREST

Yes, it is a matter of interest. If you have, you will look into it and explore it more. If you don't, you just look at it and move on.I was in Leiden and Amsterdam in the last week of April 2012. Just look at the photo of The Dunes on the coast near Leiden as shown above. The hilly sandy landscape was picturesque with some cyclists pedalling up and down. My interest then was more on cycling than in photography. It was a great place for landscape photography but I was not there for it. The sale of old books and artefacts caught my interest. The weekend crowd at The Dam Square, Amsterdam was a great place for street photography. At that time, I don't even know what is street photography. So, I only got a few books and old maps. Below is just another snapshot of the city.I should be capturing the architectural details or abstracts of Amsterdam and the cityscape where cycling is the main public transport. We capture what interests us and not what we see. ...

Black Camera Apps in My Note3

The above photo was shot in colour and converted to B&W using Lumix LX5 compact camera.I love the steel colour! Below are a few shots I took using my smart phone Samsung Galaxy Note3 via Black Camera apps. The photos are quite good.Nowadays, smart phone combine with camera apps can do wonders to photos. Some smart phones(you know them) are better than ordinary compact camera. Below are three photos taken with Lumix LX5 but with 'film grain' filter .I love the enhancement of the B&W photos. The guru told me that Good Photo=Good subject+Good camera+Good Photographer needs to be modified. The camera can be a smart phone or tablet with embedded softwares included.Softwares are in most devices, including cars.Recently,I upgraded to 4.20 Firmware for my Fujifilm XT1 camera.
