SEEING THE SIGHT-Urban Landscape

Jogging at KLCC Garden  let me see this changing landscape of KL in last decade.New blocks of buildings went up a few 100,000 square feet every year. Now,there is more than  one million square feet of commercial space left unsold or not rented out.And more are coming into the market in the next few years.A few old buildings were demolished to let new ones with better design and more floor areas to go up.Pheww..

My first visit to KL was in January,1965 when I was on my way by train to my alma mater,SDAR,Tanjung Malim,Perak.During my working life,I lived in KL from 1983-2009.That is more than a quarter of a century.I am a living witness to what KL's Landscape transformation until today.Below is a good example of mess we got ourselves into. The city is a full of traffic jams. Now,I live in Bangi since five years ago.To me, the CDB is getting uglier despite more new and modern office towers and condominiums are being built.

It is the URBAN LANDSCAPE I am talking about. It is for the people first-to live and work here.I am grateful for my hobby in photography because my photo takings taught me and made me aware of my environment especially the urban landscape that made a lot of people unhappy with their lives.City living is a night mare at times.

When I take photos of urban landscapes.I will see the buildings, the infra-structure,the transport system and the people working and living in the city. The photos tell stories of urban life-about the people and how they interact with their environment. Many lessons can be learnt.Seeing the visual of concrete jungle is only the cover of the story book.We must get inside and read the stories in the various chapters and paragraphs.

Below is a photo of my 3 years old grandson.I hope when he becomes adult in 20 years time,he could still see the morning sun on the horizon.

World Photography Week often features various events, exhibitions, and social media activities, all aimed at celebrating and promoting photography. The 2024 theme for World Photography Day is "An Entire Day," encouraging photographers to capture the myriad of activities and moments that occur around the world in a single day. Throughout the week, photography enthusiasts are invited to share their work on social media using the hashtag #WPD24 to have their photos potentially featured on platforms like those of the Royal Photographic Society. This celebration provides an opportunity for photographers of all levels to showcase their work, learn from others, and appreciate the rich ...
