COLOURFUL CORRIDORS

If I were to call this kaki-lima in Malay, the new generation will give me a blank face.Translated literally,it is a five-foot passage way in front of a row of shops.Foot is an  Imperial British measures and now everything is in metric system. So for the purpose of sharing my photos,I call this passage way as shop corridors.

My first encounter with arched shaped corridors was in the first week of January,1965 when I arrived by Mail Express train from Palekbang in Kelantan at KL Railway Central Station.I was on my way to SDAR in Tanjung Malim then.At that time,I did not have a clue of what it was but I like the shape of the arched passageway or corridors.Eleven years later,in 1976 I graduated from Sheffield University as a civil and structural engineer. As they say,the rest is history..

A few days ago,I went to The Curve for lunch with my wife at Little Penang.Along the 'kaki lima',I saw beautiful geometrical shapes, patterns and perspectives. In addition, the colours of light changes from shop to shop.Thank God,I took along my Fujifilm X-T1 and I had great time shooting some nice photos. The ambiance made me feel good to be in this shopping, stay longer and spend more.My hat off to the planner and designer and owner of this shopping complex who care more of the customers than having more space to rent.

Below is another good example of seats for people who want to stay in the open and have their meals. The landscape is not great but nice and clean and well maintained.

And here I was impressed by linear boxes of flowers beside the pavement and corridors to the shops. As a hobbyst photographer,I had a field day for myself snopping and snapping around..
