More B&;W Photos?

Two days ago I accepted Maria's B&W Photo Challenge. It was to post 5 B&W photos for 5 days and get someone to do the same thing for every post.Pheww.. Yesterday I met Iskandar and he talked about doing more B&W Photos.May be for the next few days,I will post more B&W photos.Personally,I also like colour photos. It all depends on the subject and the story.. Here is one shot I took at Kluang Station Cafe at KLIA2.

SEEING THE SIGHT-Changing colours at sunset

Two days ago,we had a great display of colours and hues at about 7pm.Thank you Ya Allah for giving me another time to see and enjoy your grandeur display of light on the western front of the evening sky.May Allah make me more grateful and closer to Him as I bear witness to his Might and Beauty. As a photographer, how does one capture these beautiful sighting that changes colours every minutes and will be gone in less than 15 minutes?

SEEING THE SIGHT-I See The Past in The Present

If you are below 40 years old,you may not feel the difference on seeing these photos. For my peers who are in their 60s and 70s,we see the past when we look at these photos. The old memories come back to us in many forms and times of the day when first saw these places when we were small kids in the 60s.My first arrival in KL from KB was January 1965!   Below are two photos at Pantai Irama ,Bachok. My kampung house is about 5km away.Old memories of childhold days rush in when I took and see these photos nowadays.

SEEING THE SIGHT-Multi-Colours Sunrise and Sunset

I was facinated and addicted by the beautiful sunrises in Bachok at Pantai Irama.Every time I go back to my kampung,it becomes a ritual that I must go and take photos at Pantai Irama at least once or twice.I just love its dramatic suprises and colours display. Just look at these top and bottom photos.I wonder if I live another 20 years,I amy get another chance to see and shoot such beautiful mornings. Over the last few years I learnt how to compose but when it comes to complex lighting like above and photos below,I am not sure what should be my exposure? So,I did the next best thing-set it on automode and tried various settings and paryed for the best.In addition to the light complexity, the colours are changing very fast. That is another challenge! I am shooting laandscape photography.Where should I focus? EXPOSURE IS THE NEXT SUBJECT THAT I HAVE TO LEARN ON THE GO.IT WILL TAKE TIME AND I AM WILLING TO GET ALONG AND BECOME THE MASTER ONE FINE ...

SEEING THE SIGHT-AT NIGHT

Some buildings and locations are more beautiful at night. It has to be the lighting. And in the above photo, the reflection adds another dimention to its various layers of beauty.Another thing I noticed is the darkness surrounding the subject enhanced the lighted structure! I have only a few good night shots because I am not good at taking photos at night. Many a time,my photos got blurred and shaky because I seldom used tripod. It is a big hassle to set a tripod and take a few shots.I would rather rest my camera on a bench or a fence to take night photos.Another factor is that I seldom go out at night-prefer to sleep early except when I cycle.

SEEING THE SIGHT-IN BLACK AND WHITE

The wall is full of vertical black lines on lighted glass. It is very obvious to me that this scenario has to be in B&W.By sheer good luck,a lady wearing black stripes blouse passed by and stopped to look at the handbags and shoes.I just shot and shot fearing that she would just leave. That was my B&W moments delivered on silver platter for me to savour. Looking at the multi colours and varieties of Malaysians' clothings and dresses at KL Sentral, this photo(as shown above) that I was going to take has to be in colou r.Making it  in B&W is a great injustice to metropolitan Kuala Lumpur and the various cultures of a few ethnic groups. The photo below is a different story. It looks good in colours but it can also be converted to B&W to tell a different story. To me,it is more interesting in B&W. The eyes can capture the visual, but the meaning will be analysed by the mind and felt and decided by the heart. In fact, the act of seeing encompas...

SEEING THE SIGHT-The Essence of The Place

Every place has its own appearance and  charaterictics.I have to capture them in a frame of photo that tells the story of the location-the essence of the place. In the above case,it is The Putrajaya Wetland-a mand-made wetland surrounding the administrative capital of Malaysia-Putrajaya.Below is another photo that tells another story of Putrajaya Wetlands. I hope I have managed to capture the elements of this place below to inform you about what it is.By the way, this is one of my favourite place to cycle but it is a Water Recreation Centre of Putrajaya, located at Presint 1.

SEEING THE SIGHT-NATURE ON ITS OWN

A few years ago,I visited Pantai Kemasin,Bachok.I was born in Bachok and yet only arrived at this beautiful beach when I was 61 years old.As they say,it is better late than never. This beach is a bit isolated and does not have good road access and commercial infras;so it is not as popular as  Pantai Irama. Each of them has its own beauty.Given RM10million,I will invest here and build a resort and a service apartment complex. Why?I saw beauty of green and peaceful environment to live and enjoy my life as I grow older and fade away.. What the photo above shows you is a green river and in a kampung environment. The scenery looks nice and pleasantly green to common folks but not to engineers and scientists. When the water turned green,it is badly polluted! We see trees every where and everyday. It is too common a sight. We take them for granted and we don't even know their names except the ones that bear the fruits we eat. Everyone may see the same forest ,but not everyone ...

SEEING THE SIGHT-Brightly lighted

BEAUTIFUL AND WARM AMBIANCE. SURREAL. YOU HAVE TO SHOOT THIS! IT WAS THE LIGHT THAT I TOOK THESE SHOTS.VERY BRIGHT LIGHT JUST SHOWING ME WHAT I SHOULD BE SEEING.THE VIEWS WERE SO ATTRACTIVE THAT MY HAND WILL GRAB ANY CAMERA WITH ME AND SHOOT THE SCENE.
