B&W PORTRAITS

This is one of my favourite photos of Zuhayr Adib,my first grandson. My portrait shots previously were not good enough for me to like them and share with my friends. It was mainly due to the 50mm prime lens I borrowed from my friend Nazley. The outcome of using this prime lens on my Canon 400D really inspired and motivated me to shoot more portrait photos.Nazley allowed me to use the lens for more than one year until my Canon went kaput.

To cut the long story short,I ended taking a lot of Zuhayr's photos and posted five series of his portraits at my Facebook. These exercises gave me confidence to take photos of other people-starting from relatives to friends and complete strangers. When it comes to strangers,I am very careful either I get their permissions or I take candidly.

While we were on a Hop-On and hop Off bus around KL City, we met a lady visitor from the Philippines. She sat in front of me. With her permission, my photography friends turned her into a model sitting on a topless bus moving around the city of KL.

Above is the photo of my friend Omrin-my partner in crime when we went shooting people on the bus.No one died....

Above is a photo of my eldest son and below is my wife's late uncle photo taken in 2013

Most of my photos are of landscape, cityscapes and street photography-not to mention my cycling tribes.I am scared to take portrait photos of individual persons because they may not like what I snap.People mood and behaviour are not predictable. However,I like environmental portraits-showing people in an environment that tell stories of who they are or where they are or how they behave in certain environment.

Below are colour portraits of my classmates during our Alumni Reunion Dinner-50th Anniversary being a Sdarian. Some photos look better in colours.
