Telling A Story

Yesterday,I read how Ms Valerie Jardin, the famous French Street Photographer used six photos of a man sitting in a restaurant to tell a story about Paris. That is a tall order for me to tell something about Kuala Lumpur in six photos. Some fifteen months ago,I did try to tell the story of KL pedestrians by me taking six shots of whoever passed through the kakilima (pavement) as seen from me sitting inside  the  Express Box Restaurant along Jalan Tun Perak as shown above. Comparing the two approaches , Valie Jardin fixed the person and took photos of how he acted or behaved in a Paris Cafe.In my case,I fixed the door and whoever  passing by pedestrians are the subjects of each shot. To me,a story can be told in different ways.Let the story teller choose his format ,content and medium. What matters more is the message delivered. By the way, what is the message?

NATURAL LIGHT MADE THE DIFFERENCE

Without the presence of strong sun light at these locations, the views are at best only good. But the strong sun light created the scenario that pulled me into the photo that I had to stop whatever I was doing and get a shot.To me,these photos are extra ordinary. The light does the artwork;I only do the composition.

It is the light..

The above is just ordinary paddy fields that you can see any where in Malaysia. The combination of cold  morning air and the subdued light turned the place into a fairy land. The above shot was taken right in front of my house in Bangi facing towards PLUS Highway and Putrajaya. On this particular day,I ran out of my house when I saw the tapestry of red, pink and yellow colours being 'splashed' across the western horizon. It is a sight I never seen before. How it happened only Allah knows about it.I saw and I captured and I shared. The above and below are two of my favourite locations to take photos in Putrajaya. Both are morning shots that I considered as 'lucky shots'.Mainly,it is the right weather that created the lighted environments. My job was to be at the right locations and composed them in such a way that they look creative and beautiful. Below is the artwork done by Allah on the horizon of Pantai Irama,Bachok. Seeing the yellow diffused li...

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY PAGE

HERE IS THE LINK TO MY STREET PHOTOGRAPHY PAGE. You are most welcome to visit my collection of street photos that I selected from my journey in street photography. It began about two years ago and I am still a new kid on the block. It is more than just a visual record of what I see,but more about how I feel.A few things just touch our hearts as we are embracing the journey of life time. It is the moment. Our lives are made of these beautiful moment. If I can capture and I will share with others.Sharing gives me greater joys than having it alone. During my exploration of the roads less travelled,I found two Guides that give knowledge and tips to facilitate my journey. They are both French ladies-Valerie Jardin and Marie Laighneau.

AMONG THE MANNEQUINS

At first ,I saw four mannequins dressed in "tudung" or head cover for muslim ladies. It is normal scenerio in a shop. But as I was going out of this market place,I noticed a sale lady went about to arrange a set of dresses in front of the mannequin in green.Suddenly ,my mind realised the change. Now,my eyes saw five mannequins.Quicky,I lifted my camera and shot the event right in front of me. When I came to this Wet Market at Presint 8,Putrajaya half an hour ealier,I had no idea what to shoot for my Street Photography.I looked around and saw nothing interesting and extra-ordinary.Suddenly,it just took place right in front of me.All I need is to be mindful and take the opportunity as it comes. That is Street Photography. It is about life and culture that is on going every day.It is there but most of the time we don't see it.

EXTRA ORDINARY SUN RISE

Yesterday ,I was at the entrance to Putrajaya at 7:15am.This is what I saw.Seldom I see these golden clouds here. Not only that the form ground look artistic to me-the trees and the lamp posts. In case like this,I stop my car.Get down and shoot the scenery. The second chance for moment like this is mathematically impossible. It is the gift of the moment to whom Allah pleases. Below is a few more gifts I received much earlier.Thank you,Ya Allah,Al Khaliq Al Wadud, Al Musawwir.

Street Photograpy:Reading

"Great street photographs should say something about life. They should fill us with an emotion or give us an insight into life around us. A great street photo is the one that elicits a reaction, be that a specific feeling, story, idea or memory. And then light, shapes and forms can only aid in a success of a photo."-Qouted. Herewith,I share a few of my street photography that tell the story of reading. Now,I noticed many of us are avid readers of small screens on their smart phones but I see less people reading real books.Well,a few of my friends read e-Books. Reading is reading. It makes us think. It is better if we learn something from our reading and do something about what matters to us.Then only we get the benefits of reading. I just love to see people reading out doors. The view glads my heart. If I have a camera,I will take their photos. Why?I don't know..It is just my personal feelings..

CYCLING PHOTOS

EVERY TIME WE GO CYCLING IN A GROUP,WE STOP FOR A REST AND TAKE PHOTOS.PREVIOUSLY ONLY PHOTOGRAPHY HOBBISTS AMONG US DO THE PHOTO TAKING BUT NOW EVERYONE HAS A PHONE AND EVERYONE TAKES PHOTOS. We take many different types of photos of ourselves and the cycling paths as well as the views we see as we ride or at our pitstops. We do selfies, wefies, indivuals portraits, small groups and whole group except the photographer. The photo above shows a group of Brompton bicycles and their owners. As an open riding group,we welcome every one and every type of bicycle but we insist all riders to wear helmets when they ride with us in the group. Our group photos take many forms and style. It depends on locations and the leader and also the photographer. The above shown was taken at the waterfall behind Masjid Sultan Mizan,Putrajaya. Most of us love our bicycles. If we see anything interesting  like wall or building or water fountain,we stop and take photos of ...

Just PONDER on Allah's creation.

Capturing the beauty of Allah's creation is not just a photography pursuit but more in appreciating the beauty of Allah's creation in the hope that I get closer to Allah, insyaAllah. Beauty stands in opposition to ugliness. Allah is beautiful in His essence, in His names and attributes, and in His actions. This is why the greatest of all pleasures in Paradise is to look upon Allah’s countenance. Allah says: “That day will faces be  resplendent, looking to their Lord” [Sūrah al-Qiyāmah: 22-23] Allah refers to His names as being beautiful: “Allah's are the most beautiful names.” [Sūrah al-A`rāf: 180]

Photos of My Brompton

Romancing my Brompton is take her to some nice and beautiful places in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur and taking photos of her.I got her just one day before my 59th birthday in 2011.Now at 4 years and 4 months, she is doing fine except with some bruises and rusts at her joints.Just like me. Whenever I stop for drinks,I put her in a shady place and she sits gracefully like an urbane lady.I never keep her out of my sight. It is not because she is expensive and came all the way from Londre of  Old Blighty, but I can't afford losing her to someone who kept trailing me whenever I go cycling. He promised to steal my riding partner from me.Not that he could not afford to buy a new Brompton;I think this bloke just fell in love with my Brompton. Below are some of the shots taken as I roam the nooks and corners the Putrajaya. Two great admirers of Bromptons.
