CELEBRATION OF HARI SUKAN NEGARA(NATIONAL SPORT DAY)

THE OFFICIAL

As a photography hobbyist and blogger,I decided to be a photo journalist to cover this national event on 8th Ocober,2016 in Putrajaya. As a regular cyclist in Putrajaya and photographer who had accumulated thousands of photos taken in Putrajaya,I am very familiar with the event which I took part last year and its  location.Familiarity breeds contempt. So,I told myself to get ready and plan my photo taking to incorporate all the elements of photo journalism and street photography-both  genres are still new to me.

A day before the event,I went to visit the site preparation so that I know what is where and when it comes  to the D-Day.I got myself ready with two cameras-Fujifilm X-T1 and X100T and Mobile phone Note5.On arrival at the car park,I saw a lot of people who just arrived like me getting their bicycles down and get them ready for the ride.

Now, there are thousand of cyclists taking part in this  event. It reminds me the days in 2008 when only about hundred of people cycling in Putrajaya then and worse we were treated like lepers. Those were the days of Putrajaya Critical Mass(PCM) when we did a montly night ride to create our presence.

Nowadays, cycling is in the news almost every weekend  and it is normal to see people cycling day and night in Putrajaya.Cycling is in the main stream and with the government supports and sponsors,it is the most popular sport in Putrajaya.

There were many sport events taking place at the same time, but I will only cover the cycling event and move around to see the public participation.By  9am ,I have to leave to attend to family matters.

The people came in all directions, as individuals, family and groups. They are from kids to grand parents;all shapes and sizes in different colours. To me,I saw a FESTIVAL  to celebrate the event. And as a self-appointed promoter of cycling and healthy lifestyle, I was smiling from ear to ear.

I saw many groups with their own colours and uniforms.

Eating is our Malaysian pastime. We eat 24/7. About 50% of us Malaysians are obese. We, therefore, need to be a sporting nation 4 by seven at least 4 sports activities in a week and stop eating by 7pm, which is impossible.

The crowd was having fun seeing the events as well as enjoying free food/drinks. A few food trucks were selling breakfast/lunch/dinner.

The boy in green is about 8years old. He was with his father. It was a family affair. However, I also noticed some fashion shows on two wheels.

Below is something I have never seen before. Life is a game!

Happy Riders

KB WALK

I planned to have four days of Photowalking around Kota Bharu #KBWalk ,but due to unplanned family errands which I love doing for my  mother and son,I only managed to have two days with only less than 4 hours.Herewith I shared two photos taken behind Pejabat PAS. To do justice to the town,I need at least 7 full days and nights to capture the history  and culture of the place. My first attempt had revealed a lot more for me to explore, discover and capture.Another missing dimension I need to have with me before I embark on KBWalk is the history of Kota Bharu. It has to be another time..May be after Eidil Fitri.

COMPARISON BETWEEN MY IPHONE 14 ProMax VS FUJIFILM XT20

No camera is suitable for every occasion. Here is a simple comparison. Both have their own strengths and weaknesses, and I love both.
