Malaysia is colourful!

The real world out there is full of many different colours.Colours can be seen every where-the sky,the buildings, the trees, the streets and the people. Some are bright, colourful  and cheerful. Some are dark and boring. When it comes to shirts and dresses, men and women have their own choice of colours.different races, different age groups and different income levels have their own fashions and colours. The top and the bottom photos showed colourful landscapes by the seaside and by the lakesides. They are indeed very colourful. Herewith,I am sharing of two market places where people go to buy their needs and also they go for eating with their family member and friends. They are in colours. There are two colourful festivals where I love  to attend. One is the Floria and the other is Hot air Balloons. They are just very colourful.

EYES FOR BEAUTY

Sometimes,we have to walk around to see some hidden beauty. This beauty is a view under a bridge in Putrajaya Wetlands. To see this, one needs to be here at the right time of the day,the day of the year and the good sunny day.Others may shoot with different  angles but this is my favourite shot.I felt like the swan swimming around in the lake. Beauties are every where, wherever we are.Sadly,we take many things for garnted and we just ignore them.In life,if you are in a hurry, you shall miss many beautiful  things along the journey.Take time to see and ponder... A few of us were lucky to given a pair of beautiful eyes.Naturally, they just see things in their own ways and able to make the ordinary becomes extra ordinary!Lucky guys..

CAPTURING HISTORY

On 9th December ,1941 Kelantan was taken over by the invading Japanese Army.My mother was 6 years old and I was born in 1952,living under British Colonial Masters. When I started taking photos on the beach of Bachok about 15 years ago,I began to know that this pillbox was used by The British to defend Malaya during WW11.Over the years,I walked the beach and discovered at least five pillboxes or locally known as Kubu Jepun. They are historical pieces left to rot and swallowed by the South China Sea.I am glad that my photography hobby motivated me to  get to know more about the history of my country-I even went inside this pillbox to see what it looked and felt like.As a structural engineer ,I certified that it was well designed and constructed with good quality concrete! Changing landscape of a city is historical to me.However, this is work in progress.I began my working life way back in July,1976 at PWD HQ,KL.If my fellow engineer who died 40 years ago and wake up ali...

Forming A Group

These birds started swimming together from different locations.. As they swam, they get closer to each other and formed a group.. Two birds slowed down to play.. One bird rejoined the pack and the leader with lifted wings took the lead.. Here ,they arrived in style and joined the others for sun bathing and await for the food to come.Feeding time is at 11am.They arrived at 8:30am.

Gotcha!

I have no idea that this sleepy looking bird was waiting for its prey.It was about 50m away from me.I was aiming to shoot it with my Note5. I got lucky. It was watching for its prey.suddenly,I saw it beak punched into the lake water and snatched away the poor fish.Immediately it flew away to the landslide area. I did not know what happened in the jungle nearby, but the same best came back and kept watching for its next prey.

Three is a crowd!

HOW DO YOU SHOOT AT CROWD? With a gun, anyone can shoot at the crowd. It will hit someone. However, when my shooting tool is a camera, then I found it not easy to get a good shot at the crowd. There are a lot of people in the crowd, hundreds of faces-but when we capture everyone's face, the photo belongs to every body. When something belongs to every body ,it belongs to nobody. Then the crowd becomes faceless with many faces. What a paradox! Below is my accidental blurred shot turned into something like a painting! The loud colours of people having breakfast at the market place attracted my attention. Comment by Raja Indera Putra: Even if you're shooting to show a huge crowd you still need to compose so that there is a focal point to draw the eye into the picture, preferable something or a some people in the foreground that are doing something interesting or are interesting in themselves. As mentioned by Raja Indera Putra, here are a few examp...

Street Photography-Lighted Bokeh

How do capture a beautiful crowd in Pasar Tani or o High Street in the city and make it looks great and artistic?

To do something creative..

I don't have any idea what street photos I want to shoot while waiting for my wife doing her gocery shopping at IOI City Mall.So I walked  around with my smart phone and be ready to shoot anything I consider interesting. As moved to The Borders,I saw a big banner showing the way to The Symphony Walk. Then something caught my eyes-I could see the shadowy figures of people walking behind the banner. So,I wait for the right moment to compose and shoot the people moving around the escalators.. Restaurants spent a lot of ringgit to decorate themselves to seduce people to come into their restaurants. Most ar e generic in nature but a few are worth looking at to take theri photos as shown above and below. Before going home,I went to to check the cinema for new films. The Magnificient Seven caught my attention but the timing was not suitable for me.Maybe at the next visit.Howver, when I looked up,I saw a beautiful oval ceiling. It looks nice and I got the feeling like I am on...

SEEING THE INVICIBLE

Over time,as I take more photos as an avid photography enthusiast,I began to see more details in the subject matters of my captures. When I take time to ponder at the photos,I began to see more-something beyond the visuals recorded by the cameras. The photo above was taken in the town of Kuala Krai,Kelantan  after the big flood in December,2014. The water level went up to the first floor. In front of the rows of pre-Merdeka shophouses were debris and rotten furnitures damaged by the flood. As an engineer,I noticed the great work done by the British architects/engineers during the colonial days in building towns and city around the country. The standing buildings are witnesses to their great knowledge and experience in building design and construction. The photo of the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Putrajaya is obvious. The fun was in the air-the pun was intended. However, there is something quite interesting on the ground. This small girl is too short to see the balloon hid...

Uncle Lim's Cafe

I have three reasons why I keep coming to this restaurant whenever I am in Subang Parade for business meeting or pleasure.First is the ambiance-I like the setting and the interior decorations. The bird cages reminds me of the traditional Malay houses in my kampung where our folks keep their birds pets.Second is the simple foods and moderate prices.Third is the opportunity to take photos.

Photos with Graphic Background

My flight to KB on 4th September,2016 was scheduled at 2.30pm.Normally by car,I leave home two hours earlier so that I have one hour before departure time.Since no one can take me to KLIA,I have to take taxi and train. To allow for any possible delays,I left home three hours earlier.By sheer good luck given by Allah,my taxi and train ride were on time.So I arrived at 12.30pm,giving me one full hour to loiter around the airport and take photos using my smart phone as well as exploring photo taking using X100T. One hour is along time for a senior citizen to roam around.By 1pm,I got tired of walking and felt hungry. So here I was at Old Town White Coffee Kopitiam eating some lousy noodles but the location is vert good for me to take photos. The topic of the week at my Putrajaya Photowalk is Graphic Background,So I am trying to shoot better photos with graphical background. The roofs of KLIA is full of lines and curves in two and three dimensions! Softly,softly..

This basketful of cakes is enough to feed hundred people for breakfast. It is not the main dish but a favourite dessert of mine.It is called by Kelantanese Buah Beko. This delicacy is made from glutinous rice powder and ripped coconuts. It is seldom made nowadays by the new generation of cake makers. It is very difficult to find one outside Kelantan. My normal shot of  food is sharp and clear, exposing the various components to seduce viewers to like it,but  not in this case.I want to tell it as a story as the famous cakes sitting pretty and proud in Pasar Jelawat among hundreds of other cakes. This shot was taken with Fujifilm X100T.Using wide angle fixed lens and shallow depth of field.
