INTIMATE LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY 5.0

Intimate landscape photography can be very complex or can be very simple. It all depends on where I am and what I am looking for on that particular day and moment. The above is complex in term of patterns and lighting. I had a tough time to compose this photo. Here is a photo that I composed using the location of the source of lighting that gives me the patterns, light and shadows that I want to see and share. It was a simple choice of framing the shot. No thinking needed-I just followed my instinct. I love the linear locations of trees along the beach. The backlighting from the sun via the clouds was very prominent. My subject is the beautiful clouds with the trees as the silhouette in the foreground.

PHOTO SERIES

I chose five photos to be my five sentences to describe the subject matter. It is more like five senses of myself experiencing my encounter with Musang King durian - the sight, the smell, the taste and not to mention the cost! A few years ago, I took part in the Photowalk at Bukit Bintang, KL. It was led by a well-known and experienced photojournalist. We were briefed to wander around and take photos to reflect the life there. So, I went aimlessly and looking for something to shoot. Then, we were told to select five photos to describe the life at Bukit Bintang area. That was the most difficult part. From the exercise, I have learnt a few lessons in photo storytelling. In the last few days, I have been posting more than a dozen photo series on my Facebook. I got a few likes but not much comments that I can learn to improve my photography. No matter what, I shall continue to do these series. Maybe later, I can convert them into a Photobook. Here is one photo that tells...

LOOKING FOR BEAUTY IN THE ORDINARY

There are many beautiful things and moments we encounter in our everyday lives but we seem not to notice them; and if we ever see them, we tend to ignore them because we are in a hurry to do something or to go somewhere that we have planned earlier. If you live long enough, you will know that life is not what you planned but what has been planned for you. According to a British comedian, if you want to make God laughs, go and tell Him your plan! As an example, as I was at the train platform, I saw a young lady came to assist a blind lady to board the train. To me, the random act of kindness is a beautiful human gesture. It happened so fast that I could not snap it with my camera. Many good things and moments happen in our everyday lives. we just need to stop and devour the moments. The photo above showed a barista was making coffee for me at Starbucks Reserve in KL. I was sitting there watching and listening to him about coffee making.  Watching him practising his art o...

MY PHOTOGRAPHY IN 2020

I was very active in exploring the world of photography in 2019. Our Putrajaya Photowalk- an online Facebook group was very active in sharing and commenting on photos being shared among members. With the assistance of other group members, I managed to organise a photo talk. Over the last six months, I organised and attended photo walks and also attended photo exhibitions. Phewww.What a great year. My gratitude and thanks to Allah and fellow group members for their kind assistance. Looking back to 2019, I have posted 91 times. For this year,I plan to post not more than once a week or the least twice a month. This year I plan to focus more on my learning to improve my photography-quality over quantity. Last year, I tried to do too many things and lacking in focus. As they say in photography, without being in focus, things get blur. My focus will be to improve the quality and diversities of my landscape, urban and nature photography. At the same time, I will spend more time to cura...
