MY PHOTOGRAPHY-- FIRST HALF YEAR 2024 REVIEW

RIVER OF LIFE PROJECT

The above photo marked the last day of the first six months of my indulgence with my cameras. I took this photo using my iPhone14ProMax at Putra Business School on 30/6/2024. I was invited to give a talk to MBA students on Strategic Operational Risk Management.

Looking back on the last six months, I was active because I got my "new" Lumix LX5 in January 2024. I used it in 2012 to take photos of my cycling in Putrajaya. The old camera went dead and I have to buy a new pre-loved Lumix LX5.

From my blogs-Adib Noh Photography and Adib Street Photography, I have written and shared 25 postings-almost once every week. I use these blogs to share my thoughts and experiences in my World of Photography,

I am also happy to record that I have attended organised photowalks (two free and three paid) to learn from a few sifus and fellow photographers. For details, please read my blogs.

Nowadays, I am happy that I have three cameras-Fujifilm XT20, Lumix LX5 and iPhone14ProMax which I can use on different occasions. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. No camera is perfect for every occasion.

In the last six months, I have done at least a dozen photowalks to curate my experience and capture some photos for my next book-The Joy of Photowalk. Hopefully, I can complete my writing by September and publish the book in December 2024,Insya Allah.

Let the photo speak first?

Should photographers explain their photos, or let the images speak for themselves? A strong photograph can stand on its own. It invites people to look, pause, and interpret the moment in their own way. But sometimes a few words from the photographer reveal the quiet story behind the frame — what was seen, felt, or noticed in that fleeting moment. Perhaps the balance is this: Let the photo speak first. Let the words gently reflect afterwards. 📷

SOLITUDE

Solitude at the Water’s Edge At the quiet margins of Putrajaya Wetlands Park, moments of stillness often reveal themselves in the simplest scenes. This photograph captures one such moment — a lone bird standing calmly in the shallow waters of the wetlands, surrounded by patches of emerging green and a mirror-like surface that reflects the sky above. What makes this scene compelling is its sense of solitude. The bird stands alone, yet it does not appear lonely. Instead, it seems completely at ease in its environment. The calm water, lightly textured by ripples, creates a soft canvas where reflections blur the boundary between sky and earth. The bird’s reflection anchors it in the frame, quietly doubling its presence in the landscape. The composition embraces minimalism.
