KL PHOTOWALK #01/2019

KL PHOTOWALK ON SUNDAY 24/2/2019 We arrived at 6pm but the rain started falling oun our heads at 6:30pm. We sought refuge at Kaki Lima and Masjid Jamek. After solat magrib, we went shooting when the rain faded away. Had dinner at Pasar Seni.It was interesting and we hope to do it again some time in April,2019. My thanks to Dato Rani,Nazley and Omrin  for being with me-rain or shine! Here are a few shots I managed to capture.

SHOOTING ROOFS

Let me share three types of roofs-first, the latticed-curved roof at the British Museum in London; second, the space-framed roof at a government building in Putrajaya and the last one is a simple roof of a floating house on Kelantan River. The complexities in design, construction, maintenance and cost vary accordingly. Similarly with our lives...The lucky few can choose how to live with their lives , the majority will try hard to live within their means and the poor will be struggling to make ends meet. Such is life. La vita e bella.

WEEPING WILLOWS

Most of us do not have the time to stop and smell the flowers. We are always in a hurry to go somewhere. We definitely had missed a lot in our journey of life. It is due to our attitude. The destination is important but we must enjoy the journey as well. I have been coming to Presint 8 of Putrajaya for years- to walk and to cycle. Only lately, I stop and look closer at these trees. To my lovely surprise, I saw great beauty in these trees. The light and the shadows! The trees added greater landscape beauty to the lakeside!

NEW YEAR DAY 2003

On 1/1/2003 I took my family for a short holiday in Cameron Highlands. At that time, my Point&Shoot camera was Olympus C75OUZ and I knew almost nothing about photography. I just shot whatever I like. Here are a few good ones. Content-wise, my interest and style remain the same. Now, I begin to believe that the more the photos you take and share, the more "naked" you get.

KOTA BHARU BUS STATION

Walking around SKMK Bus Station reminds me of the days when my family transport to KB was only by bus and private taxis in the 60s and early 70s. To go about in the city, people used bicycles,motor-cycles and trishaws. Exploring the building itself, nothing much has changed except the glaring red colour. I feel very sad that this historical transport hub for KB is left bare and bored! This Bus station has been standing here for more than half a century and it is high time for the state government to review KB Bus Station location and its associated facilities to meet the commuters for the next two decades. Not only this station but also the city transport system to meet future demands.

ART OF SEEING 5.0

During our daily life, we see many nice things. Most of the time, our eyes just scan through and move over the subjects-good, bad or ugly ones. Many a time, we let beautiful things go behind us. That was how I practised before I got hooked on photography. Nowadays, whenever I see something unique or/and beautiful, I stop and decide to take its photo or not. When I decide to take the photo, then my mind tells me to walk around the subject matter looking for the right position, angle and perspective. The heart and the mind work together to get the lighting, composition and moment. The sight and the sounds contain many distractions. You have to decide what matter most to you before you compose and press the shutter. What we capture tells others more about us than what really going on at that location. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder!
