CAPTURING REFLECTION 2.0

PHOTOS AT WEDDING

At the wedding, we meet relatives and friends in their best dresses. I try my best to shoot more of the gathering of the attendees than the wedding couple. It is better to leave the job taking the photo of the wedding couple to the professionals.  I love the above photo seeing my wife and nephews/nieces helping the groom getting dressed for the Majlis Akad nikah. Below are photos were taken from where I was seated using my smart phone. THE RECITAL OF THE AKAD NIKAH THE DU'A SELAMAT  THE WEDDING GIFTS THE CLOSE FEMALE FAMILY MEMBERS MAJLIS TAZKIRAH AND DU'A

URBAN GRAPHIC

All the lines that you see above are actually the steel cables of Seri Wawasan Bridge in Putrajaya. At night, these lines are lighted in different colours. It is a sight to behold. All these are 3-D graphic making our cities more beautiful. From the LRT platform at KL Sentral, we could see the city landscapes made of beautiful buildings and meandering railway tracks snaking between blocks of city towers. Below is a very special location INSIDE the Putra Bridge. It was designed and constructed for the rail link but the train never arrives more than a decade ago. I love the design of the tall windows that let the light in to let me take a photo of my Brompton bicycle. Graphics is written all over our city in many forms-buildings, roads, bridges etc. Sadly, many of us failed to see their beauty because we are always in a hurry to go some where. So,do take time to see and ponder.

EXPLORING THE DARKER SIDE

KENNY'S ROGERS RESTAURANT There are many things hidden and possibly lurking under the cover of darkness. At the same time, there exist some pockets of beauty and mysteries waiting to unfold. The photo above is a night shot but below is a morning shot with strong lighting and strong shadows of the morning sun. The darker side exists for many reasons-some natural and some man-made. Below is the inadequately lighted passageway between shops before they are open. It has  its own beauty. Here is someone reading the Quran during the flight. She sat next to me. I purposely darkened her body to hide her identity. The photo looks like a graphic design to me but I love this composition. Here stands my lovely Brompton bicycle. Even in semi-darkness, she looks gorgeous and seductive. The wall of LV at Suria KLL is black and white. I sat patiently waiting for someone to come and pass by so that I could take a photo. I got more than I asked for. In ...

B&W PHOTOGRAPHY 4.0

I seldom go out at night , what is more,  to go out for night photography. For this year , I took some night photos during my cycling night ride last month only . Why ? I don't like to lug my tripod along. Just love to shoot as I walk leisurely-to observe , walk and explore. Lately ,I began to see something interesting when I convert my old night photographs to B&W version. Herewith, I am sharing my colour photos converted to B&W. The above looks better in colour, the one below looks more artistic in B&W. Honestly,I donot like taking photos at night. There are so many disturbing light sources to manage and I love my photo simple, clean and cool.

PHOTOWALK BUKIT BINTANG -08/09/2018

Let me share a few photos that I took when our Putrajaya Photowalk Group did a city walk around the newly painted back lanes/alleys near Jalan Bukit Bintang. I knew their names but this is my first time walking these infamous streets.   To my lovely surprises, DBKL (The City Hall of KL) has done great initiatives to make these streets more presentable to us locals and the tourists. Just being creative and with a small fund for repainting and minor repairs, a lot can be improved on the facades of these old buildings and the streets. This is not yet retrofitting and urban renewable projects for the urban decay but it is a damn good start. Kudos to DBKL. Other cities in Malaysia must learn from Bandar Melaka and DBKL. This is an old boutique hotel with a few bird cages hung on the wall. CLEAN AND COLOURFUL TWO SIDES OF THE SAME BUILDING- THE FORMER AND THE LATER EVEN KID IS HAVING FUN WALKING HERE. OLD HABI...

HIGH KEY PHOTOGRAPHY

“ In layman’s term, it is taking photographs with white background. High key photography is basically eliminating shadows by letting more light into the camera. So the majority of the tones in the photograph are in the highlight region. This gives the photograph a positive mood and a sense of calmness.”-Quoted I discovered this genre by mistake as shown above about a month ago. Since then.I have been trying to get more of such photos but it was not an easy task in an open environment. In a studio, it is much easier with controlled lighting but not in the urban or open environment. That is the challenge. Below are a few shots were taken in Manual Mode and Special Filters included in my Fujifilm X-T1. I am still learning to grasp the meaning and the techniques. A few of the above may not qualify for HIGH KEY Photography. Please forgive an old student who is a new kid on the block.
