THE ART OF SEEING 3.0

Previously I blogged about this topic. Today,I want to write it in my facebook so that I can get feedback. Going back about four years ago,to be exact on 16th June,2014 I attended a talk by a world renown photographer Peter Sanders at our National Islamic Museum in KL. There, I heard for the first time about the 'spirit' of the photos. At the same time I visited the expo of photography on the topic The Spirit of Ramadan. From then on, I study Peter Sender's work and began learning on my own The Art of Seeing. I know it is very dangerous to learn without a teacher but the photos and stories of Peter Sander's workshops helped me to understand the meaning of The Art of Seeing. Before we come to art, we must learn the science first. Later, as time goes by we must learn and acquire the art.
I am still a student, albeit an old one,in the subject matter. Therefore I am not qualified to expound and elaborate on what it is. I am just here to share my experience;hopefully the masters will guide me on the right path.
As a regular cyclist in Putrajaya, Umai Cafe is my rendezvous as a meeting place and later as the restaurant to eat/drink after our ride. As an amateur photographer,I have taken a few hundreds of photos of people cycling in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, London and Amsterdam. But somehow I did not have the opportunity to shoot cyclists on the bridge with their reflection in the water below.I have seen some photos taken by others and I dreamed of shooting a similar photo.
One fine day,I went to Umai Cafe to have early dinner around 6pm.As I entered the back entrance I saw a few people cycling on the bridge. The reflection of the sun in the water accentuated the shadows of the cyclists. Otherwise,it won't get my attention and I will miss the moment. First thing is the habit of looking around. If I walk straight without looking left, and right I will not be able to see the opportunity to take a beautiful photo. In other words, we must be alert and conscious of our location and immediate surrounding in or to see. Our eyes only can see but we need our minds to know what we are seeing. Does that it matter and mean anything to us? The mind will process the 'information' and later passes to our heart to make a decision-to stop and shoot or just walk away.It is very personal decision.
In case of this photo, when I saw the reflection,I immediately took my camera phone and shot. How I wish I have my real camera with me.

KB WALK

I planned to have four days of Photowalking around Kota Bharu #KBWalk ,but due to unplanned family errands which I love doing for my  mother and son,I only managed to have two days with only less than 4 hours.Herewith I shared two photos taken behind Pejabat PAS. To do justice to the town,I need at least 7 full days and nights to capture the history  and culture of the place. My first attempt had revealed a lot more for me to explore, discover and capture.Another missing dimension I need to have with me before I embark on KBWalk is the history of Kota Bharu. It has to be another time..May be after Eidil Fitri.

COMPARISON BETWEEN MY IPHONE 14 ProMax VS FUJIFILM XT20

No camera is suitable for every occasion. Here is a simple comparison. Both have their own strengths and weaknesses, and I love both.
