The Lady and ERL Train to KLIA

When the train arrives at the station, most Malaysians will rush to the doors, rushing to get in even before the pessengers leave the train. But not this elegant lady who remains cool and walks slowly to embark the train.I just follow her.

LIGHT AND SPACE

Yes,I saw a few customers as well as people passing thought, but I just noticed the emptiness of the once buzzing shopping complex some ten years ago.I was wondering why... Before I got lost in the commercial discourse of this shopping complex, first thing first.I was here to capture the mood of the place. The open  space at the centre with three quarters full of tables and chairs.Sadly, not even 10% were taken up on the last Saturday afternoon of the month. What made matters worst, about ten chairs were standing on the tables tell  customers not to sit around those table.Something is amiss.. As I walked from the supermarket to McD restaurant,I got the eerie feeling that I was walking in a cowboy town.Anyone could comes out from any alleys and shoot at me!I scanned the tables with customers but did not notice any suspicious characters.Arriving on the other side,I looked back and shot the above photo. No one cared.. The space fra...

10 Weeks with Fujifilm X100T

I got my Fujifilm XT1 almost three years ago and love it.It replaced my old DSLR Canon 400D.About a year go my Lumix LX5 started giving problems and six months ago,it just died due to old age. So,I was looking for something compact from Fujifilm.X100T won my heart after I saw and read how great street photographers use it.The price was too steep for me.So,I asked around trying to get a second hand one. When I heard my friend wanted to dispose his X100T,I asked him to give me first choice of refusal. So,on 24th June,2016 he lent me his camera so that I can test and use it.If I like it,I will offer to buy from him. When it comes to get info and learn something new,I first asked Uncle Google. There are so many good articles and tips.At the same time,I watched a few good videos from Youtube on how good photographer set up and use X100T.Learning takes a lot of time and  when I have to apply what I learnt is another story. I used Fujifilm X100T whenever I go cycling or shoppin...

Two major cycling events took place this morning at PJ and Putrajaya .A group of us prefer to ride on our own.So we did about 15km around The Core Island with slight detour to Ayer@8.This morning,I took my tribe to cycle on Seri Saujana Bridge. On returning to base at Umai Cafe,we stopped at the newly opened McD.Here are some snapshots from me.

BEAUTY DOWN UNDER

Not all beautiful things are on the ground. Many of them are underground and under the sea.And many more are up in the sky.Let me share what I have photographed of some of the beauties down under a few bridges and inside a LRT tunnel.

B&W:THE STREET

At first I was very reluctant to shoot street photography in Black&White. As a novice in the world of photography, the real world is in colour.I could not reconcile and rationalise why should street photography should be best shown in Black&White. With the passage of time and more years in photography, I came to realise that photography has nothing to do with the reality but how we perceive and see reality the way we want to and sending the message or story to others. From reading the books and magazine on B&W Photography and studying the works by the grandmasters of Street Photography, slowly and steadily I got 'converted' to B&W photos not limited to only street photography but also into portraits, landscape, architecture etc. Ampang Park, KL Pasar Tani, Serdang Once the colours are removed from the photos, we shall see what is left-more on size, shape, texture, patterns and tones. The perception gets modified and meaning get...

B&W:The People

All my childhood photos in the 50s and 60s are in black and white.Colour photos are something new to me when I became adult in the 70s.A few years ago,I started to see great portrait photography in B&W like 70s and earlier. However,I still kept taking colour photos of my family and friends. Two years ago,my friend Nazley lent me his 50mm prime lens and I used it with my old Canon 400D.The photo above is my eldest grandson Zuhayr Adib and below is a Filipino tourist I met on the bus in KL.This lens opened a new window of photo opportunity and it made me like to take portrait photos. From B&W portrait photogarphy,I ventured into shootng people in public places. Here are a few..
