GEOMETRIC CITY SERIES

For the next two weeks,I will be posting photos where you can see a lot of geometry and geometrical patterns that can been seen from above, below, under and inside the city.As a young student in the early 70s,I was wondering where I can apply my knowledge of mathematics in everyday life.Later, when I graduated with a civil and structural degree from Sheffield University in England, then I began to see geometry every where all over the city and the highways.

Just look at this cluster of buildings below:

Below is a 3-D geometry on show every day:

In the design and construction of the above shown structures,we engineers need to have the right engineering knowledge with a lot of applied mathematics in practice. The ordinary folks may only enjoy  the visual beauty of the objects above the ground ,but my fellow engineers will enjoy  more on the ingenious beauty in the application of knowldge and skills needed to put up such structures.

One component of the built structure that is not seen by the public is the foundation. The cost can vary from 10-20% depending on soil conditions and the size of the buildings/bridges.

KB WALK

I planned to have four days of Photowalking around Kota Bharu #KBWalk ,but due to unplanned family errands which I love doing for my  mother and son,I only managed to have two days with only less than 4 hours.Herewith I shared two photos taken behind Pejabat PAS. To do justice to the town,I need at least 7 full days and nights to capture the history  and culture of the place. My first attempt had revealed a lot more for me to explore, discover and capture.Another missing dimension I need to have with me before I embark on KBWalk is the history of Kota Bharu. It has to be another time..May be after Eidil Fitri.

Here is a selection of my photos taken over the ten years with my Fujifilm camera, Smartphones (Samsung/apple) and Lumix LX5. How do I select 40 photos as shown here from more than 10,000 photos taken and uploaded? I just selected at random whatever photos I like to cover various genres of photography. May be I add ten more later.
