The Beauty of Tulips — Keukenhof, 9 May 2017

Standing before a field of tulips in Keukenhof is like stepping into a living painting—one that breathes, sways, and radiates colour with every shift of light. Your photograph captures that magic perfectly. The tulips rise in layers, a harmonious chaos of pinks, reds, whites, corals, and deep purples, each bloom carrying its own personality yet contributing to a unified symphony of colour.

At the centre of the frame, a single magenta tulip stands proudly—slightly taller, slightly bolder, as if aware of its moment in front of your Fujifilm X100T. This flower becomes the visual anchor, drawing the eye before letting it wander gently across the surrounding sea of petals. Every tulip seems to glow softly from within, its translucent petals catching the cool Dutch light in the way only tulips in early May can.

Keukenhof itself has a way of slowing time. In this image, you can almost feel the crisp spring air, the scent of damp earth, and the quiet rustle of leaves as visitors walk past in awe. The layering of colours feels almost painted—soft pastels in the foreground, richer tones deeper into the field, a natural gradient that nature has mastered far better than any human hand.

The Fujifilm X100T, with its signature colours and gentle film-like rendering, gives the scene a timeless quality. The reds are warm without overpowering, the pinks are tender, and the greens stand firm as delicate stems hold up these flawless blooms. It is a photograph that preserves not just what the eyes saw, but what the heart felt—joy, wonder, and the comfort of being surrounded by nature’s quiet perfection.

Tulips have always symbolized love, rebirth, and the fleeting beauty of seasons. In your image, they feel almost like an orchestra playing a silent song of spring. And through your lens on that May morning in Holland, you captured not just flowers—but a memory, a mood, and a piece of Keukenhof’s endless poetry.

KB WALK

I planned to have four days of Photowalking around Kota Bharu #KBWalk ,but due to unplanned family errands which I love doing for my  mother and son,I only managed to have two days with only less than 4 hours.Herewith I shared two photos taken behind Pejabat PAS. To do justice to the town,I need at least 7 full days and nights to capture the history  and culture of the place. My first attempt had revealed a lot more for me to explore, discover and capture.Another missing dimension I need to have with me before I embark on KBWalk is the history of Kota Bharu. It has to be another time..May be after Eidil Fitri.
