ON SMARTPHONE

Everyone is stuck on their smartphone even though the train has arrived.

Today 17/4/2923 marks the first 100 days since I bought my first iphone14Pro Max on 7/1/2023. Prior to this, I have been using Siemen, Nokia, Treo and Samsung Galaxy smartphones. I have been an avid user of phone+PDA and smartphones for the last two decades. My verdict is iPhone is  The Winner!

The smartphone penetration rate in Malaysia now is almost 90%. For all intents and purposes, everyone carries mobile phones where they go. and no one leaves home besides their smartphone and wallet. The smartphone is part of our beings, so to speak. The last practice of the Moving Control Order forced people to carry their smart phones to scan MySejahtera QR Code every where they go. Now, it is a habit and nowadays only a few people use their home phone.

What does it mean? Most people think a smartphone is a combination of a portable phone and a camera. Since a decade ago, a smartphone is a micro size computer with powerful computing power. It is a powerful communication tool that can deliver text, graphics, images and sounds. In fact, it is a multimedia communication tool that can reach anyone any where.

For me, it is also an entertainment gadget that I can watch film/video, listen to the radio/podcast and read books!

The Web developed by Tim Bernes Lee has enabled many applications that we can make use in our personal and business lives, not to mention misusage by a few bad people. Just look at Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google apps and features.

Everyone is affected by social media. Its effects are good, bad and ugly. At times, I wish I don't want smartphones but at times I feel I really need smartphones. It is a just a tool. How we make use of it matters. My friend called it SO-SIAL media. Sial in Malay language means curse, rude and without adab!

Most mainstream media abide by the code of ethics in reporting and publishing. But when the social media apps are in the hands of the public, the media become so-sial . These people without aklaq just let their fingers write whatever they want.

As an avid photographer, I use a lot of camera for business and pleasure. Currently, I am capturing and collecting photos for my book project- My Photowalk. So far, my ipPhone14 Pro Max is doing great for my book project and social media.

Overall, the smartphone is a great tool in the hands/fingers who are good people. In photography, it is not the camera but the 'monkey' behind the camera who makes good or bad photos.

KB WALK

I planned to have four days of Photowalking around Kota Bharu #KBWalk ,but due to unplanned family errands which I love doing for my  mother and son,I only managed to have two days with only less than 4 hours.Herewith I shared two photos taken behind Pejabat PAS. To do justice to the town,I need at least 7 full days and nights to capture the history  and culture of the place. My first attempt had revealed a lot more for me to explore, discover and capture.Another missing dimension I need to have with me before I embark on KBWalk is the history of Kota Bharu. It has to be another time..May be after Eidil Fitri.

COMPARISON BETWEEN MY IPHONE 14 ProMax VS FUJIFILM XT20

No camera is suitable for every occasion. Here is a simple comparison. Both have their own strengths and weaknesses, and I love both.
