MY PHOTOGRAPHY IN 2021

I started this photography blog way back in 2014. Today, I have posted 1220 postings, the highest was in 2017-308 in one year. This year 2021, here is my 51st posting. This year is similar to last year. My movements are very restricted and I went out about twice a week. I hope COVID-19 will fade away soon so that I can do more photography. Our photo group Putrajaya Photowalk is very active this year. We posted hundreds of photos every month on about 50 themes. Despite MCOs, I managed to organise five Photowalk events for my group. Thank you all my friends for your active participation. As a group,  we started a photobook project two months ago. I hope we can print out our Photowalk Photobook next year. Personally, I have done four photobooks- Urban Photography, Putrajaya, Putrajaya Wetlands and the latest one Beauty of Putrajaya in Black & White(BOP). Two weeks ago, I put my BOP photozine eBook for sales at Shoppe. Yesterday, I went to Brickfields-the Little India of Mal...

LOOK & SEE - EMPOWERED BY INTENTION

Since MRT was opened I go to KL by MRT. My favourite stations to stop are Pavilion at Bukit Bintang and Pasar Seni. Yesterday, I went to KL for a Photowalk with my friends to capture the geometric photos around the River of Life, Bangunan Sultan Sultan Abdul Samad and KL Railway Station. As soon as I arrived at the Pasar Seni Station, my eyes started seeing so many geometric lines, shapes, colours and patterns all over the walls and even on the floors. Previously, I did not see as much as I saw yesterday because I was just passing through. But when I have the intention in my heart and mind to capture the beauty of geometric photography, my eyes started seeing things I never had seen before. The photos popped up on every wall and jumped off the floor! Now I realised my ability and capacity to see are being empowered and rejuvenated by my intention. It is an experience I never felt before. We are learning every day in our lives if only we pay attention. All the above photos were ta...

PHOTOS OF TREES

Yesterday, I went for my usual morning walk at Taman Tasik Cempaka, Bandar Baru Bangi. Herewith, I am sharing ten photos of trees that caught my attention. Tree morphology never fails to fascinate me with creative configurations that are beyond my expectation and imagination. Enjoy. To know more about trees, I do sketching and watercolour painting where I get engaged with the details.

URBAN GRAPHICS

I had an unfair advantage compared to many others in seeing anything geometrical and graphical. It was due to my education at Technical Institute, KL way back in 1969 when I was in Form Four. At the young age of  17 years old, I already learnt geometrical drawing. Later, I did more technical drawing when I did civil and structural engineering at Sheffield University, England (1973-76). As they say, the rest is history. Fast forward to the present, when I do Photowalk in the city, immediately I could recognise shapes and patterns. It helps me a lot in seeing what to photograph and how to compose. Urban Photography is not like mere technical drawing because  I have to engage with the other dimensions like light and moment. Herewith, I am sharing photos to highlight the subject matter. EBOOK OF PUTRAJAYA IN BLACK &WHITE

Morning walk by the lakeside at Presint 8 “Color is descriptive. Black and white is interpretive.” – Eliott Erwitt Labyrinth Weir at Taman Seri Empangan “Black and white is abstract; colour is not. Looking at a black and white photograph, you are already looking at a strange world.” – Joel Sternfeld View of government office towers from Water Sports Centre   “Perhaps I am old-fashioned, but black and white films still hold an affectionate place in my heart; they have an incomparable mystique and mood.”― Ginger Rogers
