DO YOU HAVE BEAUTIFUL EYES?

They say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. As all of us have different eyes, we see the beauty in things from our own perspectives. As a photographer, it demands more than just seeing things. Composing is a  science and as well as an art, but I don't know in what proportions. What is so beautiful of a coconut tree sticking like a sore thumb by the seaside? But here, in the above photo, you can see a relationship between three elements - the tall coconut tree, the grey boring concrete British Pillar-Box and the roaring South China Sea. It has a story to tell-may be ugly, beautiful or just ordinary. It depends on who tells the story. By the way, the photographer has his own story when he took this photo. \ Looking at the above blue photo, many persons will see different beauty-in colours, the coconut tree standing alone against the gusty monsoon winds etc. To me, all the above are right but what the photo meant to me is the beauty of simplicity. A ty...

HEALTHY PARK HEALTHY PEOPLE

A few years ago,I was involved with a program HEALTHY PARK HEALTHY PEOPLE organised by Putrajaya Corporation. We organised cycling to visit most parks in Putrajaya every month for about three years. We have created the awareness of the joy to be in the parks with friends and family members. Now, you can see a lot of people cycling and having picnic in many gardens in Putrajaya. Some beautiful locations are only accessable by walking or cycling. During my cycling activity with my friends,I take them to many beautiful locations they have not seen before even though they have visited  more than 100 times coming with their cars or motor cycles. The sceneries are great and some have beocme addicted to taking photos whenever they are here.I am of those whom Putrajaya has inspired and motivated us to become serious amateur photographers. Way back in 2009 when my friend Azudin first time brought me here,I fell in love with this garden.Igave it a nic...

CYCLING TO CYBERJAYA-HEALTHY PARK,HEALTHY PEOPLE

About 20 of us from Putrajaya Cycling Clubrode to to Putrajaya via the lakeside from Ayer@8, Presint 8 Putrajaya.Along the route,we had many opportunities to take good photos but I did not stop because I was leading the ride except in Cyberjaya when Irene Choo took over. Our destination was to ride to Taman Tasik Cyberjaya and come back via PICC and log 25km.The garden is well designed but as usual, lacking in maintenance. This beautiful place is a proof that we have the ability and capacity to do good things for our country. What is lacking is we do very little good deeds but we do more damages to our environment.I am too ashamed to elaborate any further. This is my second visit here.Previously, we rode to Putrajaya and stopped at other places as well. This time we have come for this place to see and experience its beauty and take some photos. Many of my cycling buddies are also avid photographers like me. Green is my favourite colour...

UNDERSTANDING STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

The first time I saw the photo on STREET PHOTOGRAPHY(SP),I fell in love with it.It is about capturing the moment on the street that has unpredictable beauty in its own way.I know when I see one.So I took part in a few photowalks looking for something that I can capture and looks like street photography. Most of my so call SP shots are just photos taken on the street.I wanted to learn from my fellow colleagues, but many of them are doing similar like what I did.Looking at the international SP and oberserving the works of Marie Laigneau and Valerie Jardin,I discovered that many of us understand this subject at very superficial level. We need to know more and deeper. After reading their  articles, studying their photos and listening to their podcasts, now I think I undertstand what is SP.I cut and pasted as shown below the introduction on what is SP by Marie Laigneau in her ebook entitled Creating Impact. Street photography is not about capturing the reality as it is: it is about...

FIERY SKY OVER PUTRAJAYA

Food Photography

Most of us nowadays take photos of our food/drink before we consume them.It is not that we are food photographers. It is because we like the food being served on the table. It is NOT our intention to show off,but more of sharing the nice things we have in our lives. Personly,I love to take photos of what I eat but I seldom share them online unless they have special photographic values to me like three shots I share here with the public. At times, I do share but not for the food but more the joys of eating together with family, friends and my cycling buddies. Sometimes,I took and share just for the sheer joys of great photography.

SEEING RED

Red is not my favourite colour, but green is my colour. It has a cooling effect on my aging eyes.Ten years ago,a colour is a colour to me.But when I got bitten by photography bug,it now matters more and I become more sensitive to colours. Red bench is foreign to me who comes from old school. What more if it someone wearning red shoes. Nowadays,I see more red when I walk inside the shopping complex.Red is a great colour to attract. That is why traffic light turns red for us to stop. For Chinese, red is a sign of properity. The meaning varies from person to person, race to race and country to country. By the way,I have some problems with colours like red and orange. They just look similar to me.That is why I like green and my second choice is blue.Colour is personal. Perosnally, red wall looks weird to me but red shirt worn by beautiful lady is acceptable.

Selfie Anytime Anywhere

Selfie was foreign to me when it got started  a few years ago and still is a problem when I tried to take photo of me,not to mention group selfie.A few of my friends are very good and their photos look great and natural. This method of taking personal photos had gone viral-even President of US did it. When I was growing up in a village located in Bachok,Kelantan there was only one photographer. He is my cousin whom I call him Abang Harun. Now,everyone takes photos using their smart phone. They keep and share their snapshots. But not everyone is a photographer and only a few are great ones.It takes a lot of efforts and talents.Photography is my hobby and I am still learning to be a good photographer.

EMPTINESS

All these are empty chairs because I took these photos betwwen 10 to 11 am at The Curve.Emptiness is a transient state of being-whether it is about the chairs in the restaurant or the shopping complex low occupanacy rate or the matters of the hearts. Customers come and go like the customers at this restautants. Some are regulars and some are drops in and a few comes on invitations. What matters more is what experience they have while they are having meals at these restaurants and what memories they take home and conversations later with their friends. In my humble opinion, there is no absolute emptiness. We feel the emptiness when whatever is present is insignificant to fufil a certain level of our expectations. We keep looking far and near;we get them and later they fade away.We lose them and again we go and get them.Such is life..
