URBAN GRAPHICS

I had an unfair advantage compared to many others in seeing anything geometrical and graphical. It was due to my education at Technical Institute, KL way back in 1969 when I was in Form Four. At the young age of  17 years old, I already learnt geometrical drawing. Later, I did more technical drawing when I did civil and structural engineering at Sheffield University, England (1973-76). As they say, the rest is history. Fast forward to the present, when I do Photowalk in the city, immediately I could recognise shapes and patterns. It helps me a lot in seeing what to photograph and how to compose. Urban Photography is not like mere technical drawing because  I have to engage with the other dimensions like light and moment. Herewith, I am sharing photos to highlight the subject matter. Morning walk by the lakeside at Presint 8 “Color is descriptive. Black and white is interpretive.” – Eliott Erwitt Labyrinth Weir at Taman Seri Empangan “Black and white is abstract; colour is not. Looking at a black and white photograph, you are already looking at a strange world.” – Joel Sternfeld View of government office towers from Water Sports Centre   “Perhaps I am old-fashioned, but black and white films still hold an affectionate place in my heart; they have an incomparable mystique and mood.”― Ginger Rogers
